La musica dell’orchestra di Boban e Marko Markovic, eseguita da una band di tredici persone, è pienamente definita dalle loro origini rom, che si rispecchiano nelle loro melodie.

Boban e la sua orchestra hanno vinto la maggior parte dei premi ai quali un musicista serbo può ambire:‘Trumpet Maestro’ (2 volte), ‘Golden Trumpet’, ‘First Trumpet’, ‘The Best Orchestra’, ‘ The Best Concert’. La maggior parte dei membri dell’orchestra è stata presentata in occasione del rinomato festival "Dragacevski Sabor" di Guca, nella Serbia centrale – una manifestazione che riesce a richiamare circa 600,000 persone ogni anno.
Oltre ai 13 album già pubblicati, l’Orchestra di Boban e Marko Markovic ha collaborato e registrato nei seguenti progetti:
- I film di Emir Kusturica: ‘Underground’ & ‘Arizona Dream’
-La compilation ‘Unblocked’ (Music from the Eastern Europe) Elipsis Arts negli USA.
-"Srbija: Sounds Global" vol. 1, 2 and 3 (B92) 2000/2002/2005.
“Golden Brass Summit” Anthology of 40 years in Guca. (Network Medien), i primi 4 pezzi.
-“Rromano Suno” Vol. 1 and 2 Gypsy music from the Balkans (B92) 2003/2006.
-“Gucha! The Distant trumpet” colonna Sonora del film (2006).
- Il documentario "Competition," in qualità di protagonisti.

La band si è già esibita in moltissimi paesi in tutto il mondo: Grecia, Belgio, Romania, USA, Ungheria, Italia, Austria, Olanda, Danimarca, Finlandia, Israele, Norvegia, Turchia, Ucraina, Monaco, Russia, Svizzera, Polonia, Svezia, Canada, Regno Unito, Germania, Spagna, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Portogallo, Irlanda, Lussemburgo, Francia, Slovacchia, Croazia, Repubblica Ceca.
Negli ultimi sette anni, l’orchestra ha tenuto più di 600 concerti. Nel 2002 e nel 2004, l’orchestra è stata in tournée anche egli Stati Uniti e in Canada. Boban e suo figlio Marko hanno anche partecipato ad un documentario su artisti rroma, chiamato “Usti Opre,” che include musica dal vivo di Iva Bittova, Kalman Balogh, dell’orchestra di Boban Markovic, Ivo Papasov, Sergey Erdenko e altri.
Marko, attualmente il primo solista ed arrangiatore della band, ha collaborato con Shantel per il CD “Disko Partizani” e si è esibito dal vivo con la Bucovina Orchestra.
Nel 2006 e nel 2007, l’orchestra di Boban e Marko Markovic ha accompagnato in molti concerti Roy Paci e Frank London, come parte del progetto “Il Terrone, l’Ebreo e lo Zingaro”, conseguendo notevoli risultati. Questo progetto è continuato con altri show nel 2008 e nel 2009.
A partire dal 2006 l’allora diciottenne Marko ha iniziato a condurre la band insieme a suo padre, eseguendo la maggior parte degli assoli, componendo e arrangiando il nuovo materiale per la band e producendo nuovi album con Boban (Go Marko go, Devla).
Punti di interesse
Al festival Sziget, Budapest 2001, l’ Orchestra di Boban e Marko Markovic ha suonato al World Music Stage di fronte a 15,000. Buon risultato per Boban, ma non per la band inglese Oasis – i britannici sono stati costretti a posticipare la loro performance di circa di 30 minuti, poiché il pubblico non voleva che Boban smettesse di suonare!
La giuria di Guca presentò il premio “The First Trumpet” (il premio più importante per le brass bands serbe) a Boban nel 2001 con la votazione 10/10: per la prima volta in tutta la storia del festival a partire dal 1961 un musicista ha ottenuto un voto così alto.
Marko è diventato ufficialmente un membro della band dal maggio del 2002 e continua a condurla, insieme a suo padre, in tutto il mondo.
